The community is a joint effort for peace by the International Reform church, Inc., Education Freedom Network of America, LLC., and the Universidad Libre de Puerto Rico y El Caribe, Inc.

PRINCIPLES

We do not represent or endorse any government. We are ordinary people, citizens of different countries in the Caribbean region. We do not promote any ideology, doctrine or dogma, whether political or religious. Each member of this community is responsible for his adherence to the Constitution of the country where he is a citizen or resident. We have in common respect for the principles of healthy human coexistence and international law expressed by the Charter of the United Nations.

We are aware that some governments, unfortunately, do not adhere to the provisions promulgated by the United Nations (UN) and even deliberately violate or ignore its fundamental principles and / or resolutions to advance their particular agendas.

The members of this community love peace and do not accept any action that threatens the democratic self-determination of peoples, specifically, their sovereignty. We are committed to the peaceful path of dialogue and diplomacy to resolve problems among peoples, within the framework of international law. We reject, therefore, any form of violence between peoples and foreign interference in their internal affairs.

On the other hand, we recognize the inalienable right of peoples to maintain an Armed Forces in order to defend their homeland from foreign aggression.

CHARTER OF THE UNITED NATIONS

We especially wish to draw your attention to Chapter 1, Articles 1,2 which expresses the fundamental principles of our community.

The main purpose of the Community of Caribbean Peoples is to encourage its members, voluntarily and freely, to form groups, called Encounters, whether large or small, for dialogue on the Charter of the United Nations (UN) in such a way that the participants of the dialogue, ordinary people, become more aware of the actions of their governments that contradict the Charter and even incur in illegitimate acts against other sovereign states,  by deliberately violating these principles enshrined in the Charter or by being complicit in knowing and keeping silent.

MEETINGS

By administrative recommendation, it has been determined that there will be no face-to-face meetings anywhere. All meetings will be held freely and voluntarily by video call or email.

It is the responsibility of every governed people to elect rulers who represent them for the sake of peace, security, prosperity and happiness, respecting international rights and human rights.

CHAPTER PURPOSES AND PRINCIPLES

Article 1

The Purposes of the United Nations are:

  1. To maintain international peace and security, and to that end: to take effective collective measures to prevent and eliminate threats to the peace, and to suppress acts of aggression or other breaches of the peace; and to achieve by peaceful means, and in accordance with the principles of justice and international law, the adjustment or settlement of international disputes or situations likely to lead to breaches of the peace;
  2. To promote friendly relations among nations based on respect for the principle of equal rights and self-determination of peoples, and to take other appropriate measures to strengthen universal peace;
  3. To carry out international cooperation in the solution of international problems of an economic, social, cultural or humanitarian nature, and in the development and encouragement of respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms for all, without distinction as to race, sex, language or religion; and
  4. Serve as a center that harmonizes the efforts of nations to achieve these common purposes.

Article 2

For the realization of the Purposes set forth in Article 1, the Organization and its members shall proceed in accordance with the following Principles:

  1. The Organization is based on the principle of the sovereign equality of all its members.
  2. The members of the Organization, in order to secure the rights and benefits inherent in their status as such, shall fulfil in good faith their obligations under this Charter.
  3. The members of the Organization shall settle their international disputes by peaceful means in such a way as not to endanger international peace and security or justice.
  4. The members of the Organization, in their international relations, shall refrain from the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any State, or in any other manner inconsistent with the Purposes of the United Nations.
  5. The members of the Organization shall render to it all kinds of assistance in any action which it exercises in accordance with this Charter, and shall refrain from giving assistance to any State against which the Organization is exercising preventive or coercive action.
  6. The Organization shall cause States that are not members of the United Nations to conduct themselves in accordance with these Principles to the extent necessary to maintain international peace and security.
  7. Nothing in this Charter shall authorize or bind the United Nations to intervene in matters which are essentially within the domestic jurisdiction of States; members to submit such matters to settlement procedures in accordance with this Charter; but this principle does not preclude the application of the coercive measures prescribed in Chapter VII.

The Sovereignty of Peoples

The Sovereignty of all peoples is sacred. External interference by other peoples without the mandate of the United Nations in order to maintain internal peace and territorial integrity must be categorically rejected. No other people outside has the right to try to change the regime of government of another people, for that is the responsibility of the citizens of the people whose regime wishes to be changed by others.

The members and associates of this community reject any attempted coup d’état. A government should only be changed peacefully, democratically, without outside interference, by the citizens of that country. Oblivious to a democratic process, without the use of the armed forces and any attempt to repress the peaceful protests of the people, no coup d’état is justified.

The Sovereignty of a people must be defended diplomatically before the corresponding bodies of the United Nations (UN). Otherwise, each people reserves the sacred right to defend violations of its National Sovereignty with blood and fire.

Repression of Human Rights

Every government must guarantee its citizens the right to protest peacefully when they disagree with the determinations their government has made on any matter. Those who protest must adhere to the rules established by the government so that their voices are heard and if necessary, the corresponding remedies are taken. We reject acts of violence by those who protest, as well as acts of state repression against peaceful protesters, adhering to the protest rules established by the state to guarantee peace and respect for the human rights of its citizens.

People’s Government

It is the people who have the supreme mandate to govern. It is they who at the ballot box choose those who have the duty to represent them. Unfortunately, through deception, some are elected and act against the will of the people who elected them. We find a lot of hypocrisy in some high elected officials, from presidents of the country to subordinate positions in their administration. Have they been elected to benefit a minority while the majority of the people suffer for their actions, translated into contrary laws and agreements? Do they prevent the people from peacefully protesting? Do they have the people and their Constitution at their heart, or do they respond to foreign interests beneficial to them and their clique?
